16 and Under Team 1 Match Report by Lisa McKenzie (Head Coach), Dilara Isikli (Assistant Coach) and Sarah Aynsley (Manager)
Another warm night at the courts and our 16s team were pumped, looking to make it three from three against Noranda. With a number of injuries to our centre-court players, we welcomed Jennai, one of the 16’s training partners.
The girls took some time to settle in the first quarter, with the control of the game ebbing and flowing between the teams. We finished the quarter with a small lead, allowing some opportunities to rotate players and test new combinations across the court in subsequent quarters. The passing was strong, although occasionally wayward, and plays practiced in training, evident.
Our opposition was, at times, physical but the girls continued to keep their control and composure despite many decisions not going their way. We continued to dominate on the score card and increased our lead each quarter, finishing with a final score of 49-33.
Congratulations to the girls on their third win and maintaining a top position on the ladder, only second to Fremantle on percentage. A special mention to the four players who filled in for the 18s team in the next time slot, helping them secure a victory against Peel.
Their success can be attributed to the teamwork and dedication they put in at training and each game. Here’s to another successful outing in Round 4!
